What’s so hard about the First Amendment?

I would have thought that the most understood and accepted amendment to the Constitution would be the First Amendment. After all, how hard is it to grasp what freedom of speech means? Put simply, it means you can express yourself and your point of view without being silenced by someone else. Seems simple, right? Well, apparently the folks over at IO9 have only the most strained grasp of what our natural right to freedom of speech is all about.

The first thing we need to understand about freedom of speech, as it was laid out by our founding fathers, is that it is implicitly designed to cover the speech we hate the most. If it wasn’t there would be no reason to acknowledge it in an amendment. Those words should remind us that there is no need to protect a right that we can all agree with – so the intent was to cover ALL speech – particularly the speech we despise.

It’s like the headlines could tell the future

How could we possibly have re-elected a president who has  achieved NONE of the things he said he would? Even if you judge him by his own standards, he should never have been put back in office.

Just. Plain. Evil. Heartless abuse of children

So here is a video that will make you cringe at the very least. It is a demonstration of cruelty that is infuriating. What you will see is a special needs student being abused by the people who should be helping them the most.

Lets see how this plays out. The people shown treating this child in this way need to be fired immediately. There are NO circumstances in which this behavior is okay.

If the teachers unions protect these two (as they have with previous special needs child abuse cases), I am completely done looking for any shred of giving teaching unions the benefit of the doubt. If they can let this go by, they have proven themselves to be evil beyond the shadow of any doubt.

Congress aids the 99% Protesters

In what can only be described as a bewildering and ridiculous, Congress unveils a new spending bill that includes counting pizza as a vegetable for school lunches.

How can Congress do this? School meals that are subsidized by the federal government must include a certain amount of vegetables by law.  The new spending bill contains language that claims, that if a slice contains two tablespoons of tomato paste, it counts as a vegetable. However, last June Congress passed a law with new higher nutrition standards from the USDA, for school lunches. But given the current economic situation, Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee said the changes would “prevent overly burdensome and costly regulations and …provide greater flexibility for local school districts to improve the nutritional quality of meals.”

The complete reversal of congress in this matter and with a topic that is so clear and easy a concept that a Third Grader can understand, demonstrates that our representatives are more concerned with bowing to the wishes of corporate lobbyists, then what is right for the nation. Providing proof to what many of the 99% Protesters believe.

This American wonders how much more this savings now, will cost us in federally subsidized healthcare bills in the future.  Please pass the ketchup…

Give what to who now?

I am always a bit surprised by the folks who spend so much time and energy talking about America as “occupied territory”. Now we can talk about the Native Americans and how the way the United States treated them changed dramatically during the Andrew Jackson administration. However, even in that case, the Indian Nations enjoy a unique brand of sovereignty.

However, when folks south of the border start talking about how their land was taken from them, I cannot help but think they really need to read up on that history. As far as Spain and Mexico are concerned, every inch of land we have was paid for. Never mind the fact that we kicked Mexicos butt in a war that THEY started. Once we did win, we proceeded to PAY them for the land. If ever there was a time to tell someone to “Sit down and shut up” it is now when these idiots talk about their seized Mexican lands. The following video is a perfect example. We start off with some of the usual generalized “native peoples” type of pitch, but then the money shot comes as we see the national socialists and communists in the crowd – and the wider agenda comes into a more clear focus.
