Healthcare: “How much we spend, will be decided by the government”

Remember, when Congressman Jim McDermott (D- Washington) says, “How much we spend, will be decided by government” is equivalent to saying “The government will decide when your treatment is too expensive or when care should be curtailed or if you really need that operation or not.”

Play the video for his own words:

The rest of his story does not pass the sniff test for anyone who has actually used our medical system. If the government feels this strongly about the practices he describes, feel free to see your duty to inform the public. Taking over healthcare is not the solution.

Socialized Medicine

There is a great video that was posted yesterday. It is a discussion between Rosie O’Donnell and a listener to her show. To set the stage a bit, Rosie and this caller can both be described as people who seem to have a positive attitude towards socialized medicine – health care controlled ¬†and provided by the state.

There will be plenty of time in the future to enumerate all that is wrong with the entire concept of socialized medicine. For our purposes today, just listen to this persons honest description of what her experience is as someone who has to work through this system.

What is most interesting about this is how this person just accepts these state mandated limitations on her health care. Her lack of options, the barriers to her getting the care she wants, all taken as if that is the way it should be.

In some future post, I will be happy to cover the topic of socialized medicine. I consider myself fortunate to have lived in a country with socialized medicine for a few years. I did not feel fortunate for the care I received, but rather for the affirmation with first hand experience that socialized medicine is not what any American should want for themselves.
